First stop, we hung the hammock on the stage of Baritone Borja Quiza's concert "Cool Swing". The concert consisted of a repertoire of songs from the Rat Pack era and took place in the Plaza de Maria Pita located in the center of La Coruña's old city district. The audience was filled with spectators of all ages, and it was ideal for providing the first glimpse of the hammock to the public.
Next we worked with our collaborators at Colectivo 15001 to prepare the Boomerang Hammock Launch at their trendy event space, The Room, also located in the old city of La Coruña. This was our first time seeing people, aside from our team, sit and swing on the hammocks. The response was delightful. People seemed to have lost track of time while swinging on the hammocks, and I personally believe that they were half expecting a coconut to fall from an imaginary tree. The feedback was honest and we took a lot of good ideas away from this experience.
After much buzz throughout the city, we were then asked to display the hammocks in an art gallery and cafe called Monty Ambigu. We kicked the night off with a stunning performance yet again by Borja Quiza. We were later treated to a few selections by the designer himself, Rubén Quiza. The prototypes are still on display as we speak, and many cafe goers have traded the sunny patio to drink their coffees while swinging inside.
There is always room for improvements, but how would you ever know what tweaks need to be made by staring at the drawing board?
It was such an awesome experince seeing so many people enjoy a product that we believe so strongly in. Now our next step is to ensure that we get this Boomerang Hammock into the homes of those who truly love it. Check back in for updates and more information in the weeks to come. Cheers!
