a moment with KILLIAN GUI
a moment with KILLIAN GUI from Kortnee Quiza on Vimeo.
I'm really looking forward to working with Donaldo Smith, the brains behind menswear line KILLIAN GUI. The 23 year-old from Chicago, Il, is currently a resident in the Chicago Fashion Incubator at Macy's on State Street. His debut collection features dress shirts where he displays his cheeky approach to design as well as a serious attention to detail. Keep your eyes open, as you will be hearing his name more often. I promise.

What's yours is mine.....
I have been without my computer for a week now. 'How I am surviving?' you ask? I've been using my husband's PC. Not only have I realized how much I missed using a mouse, I also got to explore his archive of pictures. Excuse me for being a bit, well, really nostalgic. Here are a few I dug up from the past 7 years.....

Art Basel Contrast
Photos by Koko Quiza
It just happened to be one of those nights when after a stretch of low-key weekends, four zillion opportunities to enjoy art, music and fashion presented themselves in one night. The sub-zero temperatures not only presented a bit of a fashion challenge, it also assisted in my daydreams of being in Miami and attending many of the fabulous parties at Art Basel. With awesome company with you, it is easy to be distracted from skin piercing winds. At least until we successfully hail the next cab.....

The Cool Kid

Madison is the subject of this post as she really shines in front of the camera. Kids in these digital days have such an advantage, we had to wait centuries to see our pictures.

Fingers Crossed

I was unable to make it to the Mich. Ave H&M on Saturday, (mainly because waiting inline at 7a.m. alongside like-sized shoppers giving me the stink eye doesn't really appeal to me). However, I spoke to my oh-so-fashionable opera singer brother-in-law, and as we gushed over the yellow ruffles and metallic oxfords, he mentioned to me that the debut in Madrid was Tuesday. Not only that, but he and his wife would be one of those dedicated shoppers standing in line with their lil' fashionista, Daniella in tow. I suggested a few pieces that I had my eye on, and if they should so happen to see it in a 38........

Leaps and Bounds
photos by Koko Quiza
It has been a rare transition of the seasons. We've held on to the weather that would allow us to sleep with our windows open, just a crack, well into November. As the year winds down (ever so quickly, eek!) I am getting more and more excited for the approaching year. This past year, I made a cautious entrance into the world of photography. Capturing moments that before I could only visit in the depths of my imagination. Having taken the leap and purchasing a camera cost-equivalent to one's rent, has allowed me to share my thoughts without words.

POPPING UP AND BACKING UP
I HAVEN'T HAD MY HEAD IN A HOLE. WELL NOT LITERALLY. I WOULDN'T CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE THE MOST COMPUTER SAVVY PERSON, HOWEVER, I NEVER IMAGINED THAT I WOULD BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE AS TO LOSE MY PHOTOS THE DAY AFTER ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENTS FOR 7THMARKET TO DATE. I SPENT ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF IN ANGONY. I EVEN DREAMED THAT I HAD TAKEN ALL OF THESE WONDERFUL TOMMY TON-ESQUE BACKSTAGE PHOTOS AND THEY WERE AVAILABLE ON MY MAC, READY TO POST. I FELT INSPIRATIONLESS. UNTIL NOW. MY HUSBAND (he's pretty dreamy) WOKE ME UP TO A COMPUTER SCREEN FILLED WITH MY "LOST" IMAGES. I DON'T THINK I COULD HAVE KISSED HIM ENOUGH. THEY ARE STILL BEING SORTED THOUGH AND TOUCHED UP AS WE SPEAK. I HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON AND SWIFTLY PURCHASED A NEW BACKER-UPPER-THINGY THAT WILL ENSURE THAT THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN (hopefully). I HOPE THAT THIS IS A REASONABLE ENOUGH EXPLANATION FOR MY NEARLY 2 WEEK HIATUS. SEE YOU SOON! KISSES!

Fields of Gold

Even though just looking at this picture makes me want to sneeze, I still get this sense of serenity. I keep reading articles and posts about how the summer is coming to an end, however these sweltering September days beg to differ. Many of us are thrilled to get a few more days to show off our pedicures before we are stuffing our wool socks into brown leather boots. (sigh)
