Meanwhile in Zagreb Pt I
I think one of the most memorable moments during these past adventures was our journey from La Coruña to Zagreb. What should normally be a flight long enough to nap or flip through a few pages of Vouge Español, became an eighteen-hour voyage.
We arrived in Zagreb in the wee hours of the morning tired, cranky, and in desperate need of bubble bath. However, I was stoked because I would be meeting up with my friend and client, as she was coming from a fashion show hosted by J-Wind in Bucharest. I scribbled a quick email with my hotel room number and something about bear-hugging her when we finally met up, and passed out.
The next morning, well afternoon, I picked up a ringing phone to hear my friend's voice blurt out her room number. I bounced out of bed so quickly, my husband thought I must have forgotten my passport on the plane or something. I waltzed down the hall of the 5-star hotel as if I weren't wearing my pajamas, and banged the door of room 418.
When the door opened we shrieked in delight, commenced the catching-up period, and exchanged tales of our adventures over the past month. Between the two of us we had bounced between 7 countries in just a few weeks. We were able to meet up in Zagreb because she was presenting her collection alongside designers such as Kunitar and 8E88, in a fashion show at the opening of the Creative Dimension Zagreb inspired by Toyota.
Check out some of the footage I captured. The show was a success and a huge shout out to our friends at J-Wind for making it all come together. Hip Hip! Hooooray!

Venice
This past few months have been filled with foggy airports, gondolas, opera houses, cathedrals, and islands. More tales of my adventures to come shortly, but in the meantime I will leave you with some of my favorite shots I captured while in one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited....

Not like this hasn't happened before
It has been a over a month since I have posted, and it might be just as long before I post again. I wanted to leave you with an image that I found that was so fly. I don't want you to think that I have just been sitting and twirling my fingers. I have been getting my hands dirty with many a different project.
Beginning with a trip to New York in July. Then, with intentions of gathering some great Fashion Week coverage, back to twirl around NY in September. And believe me, I twirled. You would have seen the evidence had my camera cooperated and transfered the images to my computer. I got over it quickly because the following week I would be flying to London, where it all began ;).
Fighting jet lag we made our way to the island Solta, in Croatia. After a few days there conducting research, we boated across the Adriatic Sea to Italy (I will post pictures of Venice. It was magical). Finally, after skipping down to Madrid, I am floating around the Northern part of Spain where I am currently typing whilst looking out at the sea.

I am dizzy with excitement, and eager to take full advantage of these opportunities in front of me. Whether it's exploring the world of opera and meeting with costume designers, or arranging for artists to exhibit across the globe. The prospects are many, but with no time to spare.
I'm just happy for this pause in the day to check in and post a picture of my new (and very imaginary) friends.

The Gardener
The Gardener from katja hentschel on Vimeo.
I found this short film on the Glam Canyon and I couldn't resist sharing it with you. Even though my "garden" consists of one bamboo plant that was left in my apartment when we moved in, I now can't help but to water it in heels.

i Think CONTRA Rules!
The goodness just keeps rollin' in! My new fav artist BOSCO turned me on to Think CONTRA. A Toronto-based publication full of creative goodies and in-depth content of any and all things that rock on the urban culture scene. Needless to say, they are my new daily read.
"A collective of thought purveyors who believe controversy and contrast is good, but creative freedom is even better."-TC
I swoon. With a philosophy that is aligned with that of 7thMarket, it seems as though we may have developed ourselves a devoted appreciation for Think CONTRA as others have for a certain publication run by the "Ice Queen". Thats all.

Well, Hello BOSCO!!!
I received an email around 11a.m. with an introduction of an artist whose track I immediately added to my coveted "New S*%#!" playlist. I initially listened to BOSCO like she was a contestant on The Voice, but then I saw what she looked like... My opinion went from "Wow, this young lady is really talented!" to "Um. Whoa. This chick is dope! Aaaaaand she needs to be my friend. Now."
I then proceeded a lengthy internet investigation about any and all things BOSCO. Luckily, she was kind and assertive enough to send me information that I requested. That was yesterday. Today, she was the first voice to greet me on my iTunes. Now, I have to see her perform live, and get her into a pair of DRAPES..... Next step? Fan Club president?

Reconcile
I don't like being mad very long. Mostly because a smile suits me far better than a frown :). Last week, blogger kept refusing my pictures. Sure, it wasn't intentional, but it clogged up one of my only creative outlets. Not to mention the temperature was 800 degrees in Chicago.
However, as of lately my attitude has been cooled off by this ever so pleasant breeze. Thank God, because I was really upset that I would never be able to post photos again. I will catch you up on a bit that has been happening with 7MA.

One of my newest clients Ruben Quiza, is causing quite an uproar in the design world. Here are some 3D renders from his upcoming project for Sushi Samba Chicago.
It was the most splendid experience of innovative design, craftsmanship, and gastronomy I've had in Chicago yet. Here is a bit of footage I captured...
Well, there you have it. Let's just hope that the blogger gods are a little kinder in the upcoming weeks. I would hate to have to make a post this lengthy again. Ooooh! Make sure to check out my new Tumblr. I know what you're thinking, and you are exactly right. Come on! Remember my adventures in backing up? No?

HOMME ATLAS with Ruben Quiza
photos by Koko Quiza
I was on hand to capture behind-the-scenes footage of Justin White's shoot with Ruben Quiza. Aside from being my (very handsome) husband, he is an incredibly talented designer. We are all anxiously awaiting the launch of HOMME ATLAS this summer. I am interested to find out what other tricks Justin has up his sleeve....

With Love, From Japan
photos by Koko Quiza
My other half traveled to Nagoya and Toyota City, Japan for a conference and brought me back goodies. In addition to the sweets, (with really beautiful packaging) I got a hand carved Geisha doll and Vogue Japan with Naomi gracing the cover. I don't have to understand Japanese to appreciate the beauty in between these pages.
I am happy that he made it back safely, and I will continue to keep Japan and its people in my prayers throughout their recovery.

Hidden Jewel
photos by koko quiza
I wore my newest and (favorite) skirt as a dress the other day to to the cocktail reception of the Bill Cunningham New York film. It's vintage, and since there were no tags present I will guess that it is circa 60's. This is my first time posting about items in my closet, but a piece this precious certainly deserves a bit of attention.

Pivotal Pre-Order
We all are anxiously awaiting the arrival of designer Ashley Scott's Drapes Pivotal collection. This time, she's tried her hand in different construction methods. She's incorporated materials such as pyrite and metal. She's expanded her range of headpieces. The growth in her line is irrefutable and I can't wait to she what she does next............

7thMarket+Ashley Drapes+Tres Awesome=Elle Global Street Chic
It was because of the lovely Emma Arnold of Tres Awesome that my Drapes and I ended up on the front page of Elle.com. It was really a surreal moment to click on the site and see this tiny version of myself standing next to all of these super chic women from around the world.
These are the earrings I was wearing in my photo. They are Zena Tassels from the Archive Collection. Priced at 64 dollars, it is impossible that you go one season more without them.

Happily Ever After
The long anticipated wedding was everything I imagined and more. I developed a fondness for the Royal Family, (particularly Prince William. Swoon!) when I first went to study in London in 2003. He and David Beckham were on the cover of literally every gossip magazine, OK!, The Sun, The Globe, ect. We girls couldn't get enough. Even after returning to the states I kept a close eye on the Prince and his whereabouts. I was ecstatic when I heard the news of their engagement. Seeing how the ceremony commenced at 5 a.m. ET, it was quite a feat to keep my eyes open. Three hours, two cups of english breakfast, and a box of tissues later, Will and Kate gave us two kisses and their final wave. As the last of her McQueen dress was swept through the balcony doors, I knew that I had witnessed a truly magical occasion. Did you watch?

At least for while.....
As we always love to offer a first hand look into all of the projects that 7thMarket is involved in, we will be offering an alternative insight. For a bit. You will have to check back in with us to see what we mean. However, enjoy our favorite behind the scenes photos and video from the Justin White for Eskell lookbook shoot. Gosh, I don't believe we've ever been this vague..... This sure is fun! Until the next time.....
Yours,

Anna Fong White Blouse Collection '11
Here is the video short I composed of the shoot I had with Anna Fong. She is introducing a capsule collection which consists of the best white blouses from her past and current collections. I think that I can finally admit that making these video shorts make me happier than eating an entire bag of wild berry Skittles. I just don't know how I let it get this far, but my passion fruit passion has now encompassed any and all activities behind the lens. Now, I am putting the finishing touches on my project for Justin White x Eskell. See you in a few days!

The second, Anna Fong's White Blouse Collection. Last, is the newest collection of Drapes by Ashley Scott. As this is just a preview, I'm not going to fill you in on all the awesome details. Yet. This was our first time shooting with ice. What do you think?

Tights and Sights
This past Friday, we attended the Opening Reception of the SAIC Undergraduate exhibition. It was also the debut of my new Henrik Vibskov tights that I literally won in a coin toss in NY (stoked!). It was an impressive display of talent, as there were more than 200 students exhibiting. From projected images in bathtubs, to rock candy covered LED lights on tree branches, the work displayed was capable of capturing the wildest of imaginations. The exhibit runs through April 6 at the Sullivan Gallery 33 S State St #7.

FAME!
photos by Koko Quiza
Here are some shots of the student work at the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago in the Harris Theater. We were invited to attend the Media and Fashion shows and we ran upon these designs during the intermission. It was such a pleasure to be in such an imaginative and energetic atmosphere. It also provided me with a much needed sense of nostalgia, reminding me of why I chose to make a career in this fantastic industry. Best decision. Ever.
