POPPING UP AND BACKING UP

I HAVEN'T HAD MY HEAD IN A HOLE. WELL NOT LITERALLY.  I WOULDN'T CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE THE MOST COMPUTER SAVVY PERSON, HOWEVER, I NEVER IMAGINED THAT I WOULD BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE AS TO LOSE MY PHOTOS THE DAY AFTER ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENTS FOR 7THMARKET TO DATE. I SPENT ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF IN ANGONY. I EVEN DREAMED THAT I HAD TAKEN ALL OF THESE WONDERFUL TOMMY TON-ESQUE BACKSTAGE PHOTOS AND THEY WERE AVAILABLE ON MY MAC, READY TO POST. I FELT INSPIRATIONLESS. UNTIL NOW.  MY HUSBAND (he's pretty dreamy) WOKE ME UP TO A COMPUTER SCREEN FILLED WITH MY "LOST" IMAGES. I DON'T THINK I COULD HAVE KISSED HIM ENOUGH. THEY ARE STILL BEING SORTED THOUGH AND TOUCHED UP AS WE SPEAK. I HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON AND SWIFTLY PURCHASED A NEW BACKER-UPPER-THINGY THAT WILL ENSURE THAT THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN (hopefully). I HOPE THAT THIS IS A REASONABLE ENOUGH EXPLANATION FOR MY NEARLY 2 WEEK HIATUS. SEE YOU SOON! KISSES!

Fields of Gold

Even though just looking at this picture makes me want to sneeze, I still get this sense of serenity. I keep reading articles and posts about how the summer is coming to an end, however these sweltering September days beg to differ. Many of us are thrilled to get a few more days to show off our pedicures before we are stuffing our wool socks into brown leather boots. (sigh)

End of Summer

We're at the end of what was a cheerful and productive summer. I shot this young man at the Street Style fashion show a bit ago. It was one of my favorite images and I never posted it. Matter of fact, I never caught his name either...

Love Letters to BP

This was an exhibition put on my some of our newest clients bear.illa. The streets were buzzing with Lala goers, but there was a different type of buzz going on at Connect Gallery. People were out to appreciate artists and musicians who all came together for the same purpose, to shed light on the devastating effects this recent oil tragedy had left on the gulf coast.

The Industry

So, I have been wanting to bring new Creative Individuals together in Chicago for a while now. And since the closing of Verse last fall (tear) our clubhouse has been n/a. Starting July 27th, we will be welcoming fashionistas, photographers, bloggers, and students to The Industry. The Industry is a interactive forum, lasting four weeks and is designed to encourage the exploration of the professional fashion/creative industry. During this time, we will be consulting, blogging, and hosting Q&A's with Anna Fong, Melanie Lyke of Rockett Mansion, Ashley Scott of Drapes, and Chicago stylist Justin White. I think this is gonna be an event that will provide an awesome networking and inspiring network that Chicago has thirsted for some time now. Are you gonna come?

rm launch

People came from all over to be apart of Rockett Mansion's 2 year anniversary and E-shop launch. The ambiance was very chill, but the topic of everyone's conversation was the beautiful hand picked selection by Melanie Lyke, Rockett Mansion's owner and buyer. The event took place where RM's showroom is situated, at the Lacuna Artist Lofts in Chicago's Artist district. Most everyone left with their favorite piece and some pretty awesome memories.

It's a launch.

You don't need a light bulb to go off in your head to think green.

If you recently made the switch to energy-efficient CFL light bulbs, here’s a brilliant way to reuse all of those old incandescents. Designed by Natalia Hojman and Angeles Estrada Vigil, the Potus Pot transforms a burnt-out light bulb into a bud-growing vase. Each beautiful recycled planter comes complete with a simple OSB base and packaging reused from the original light bulb.
